Cultural Day is a special occasion set aside to celebrate our unity in diversity, while appreciating the differences and similarities in our various cultures. It is through this understanding that Nigeria, our great nation, can continue to grow stronger and better.

Cultural Day provides an opportunity for different tribes to come together to display their cultures through food, language, attire, music, and dance. It is a time when diversity is celebrated and unity is strengthened.
Cultural Day is very important in schools because many students do not fully understand their roots or the value of culture. Due to modernization and the busy lifestyles of parents, cultural values are sometimes neglected. Practicing culture within the school environment therefore helps to educate students about their heritage and instill pride in their identity.

The Annual Cultural Day is a significant event for both students and teachers of Bimaks International School. The school is well known for its excellent organization and rich display of cultural heritage during this annual celebration. The 2024 edition was no exception. The event took place on 9th February, 2024.

The school Proprietress, Mrs. Adebisi Makanjuola, formally opened the event with an enlightening speech on the importance of cultural awareness and how Cultural Day serves as a platform for promoting national unity. Parents, teachers, and invited dignitaries were present to witness the colourful celebration.

The event featured a variety of activities including cultural dances, parade by pupils dressed in different ethnic attires, traditional hairstyles display, and presentation of local delicacies from major Nigerian tribes such as Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa. The children showcased different dance steps and cultural expressions, making the occasion both educational and entertaining.

The 2025 edition of the Cultural Day was also successful, although it was held on a low-key scale. Despite this, the event was lively and impactful, with impressive displays of local dishes, fashion, hairstyles, and cultural performances that reflected Nigeria’s rich ethnic diversity.

In conclusion, Cultural Day at Bimaks International School continues to be a meaningful event that educates, entertains, and unites the school community.

Thanks.
